Summary

Krishna returns home with cowherd lads,
singing, dancing and playing drums,
with parasols made of peacock feathers
held over His head and dressed in lovely
garments. The cowherd girls rushes to the
streets to have a glimpse of Krishna,
some of them get so enchanted by His beauty,
their dresses and bangles loosen,
as their bodies become slim longing for Him.

Wearing hats decorated with peacock feathers;
the cowherd boys flock everywhere;
Drums', single-stringed instruments' sounds abound
Playing flutes and singing music all around
Govinda returns with His crowd,
girls wonder if they're seeing rainy-clouds;
rushing to the door to get a glimpse;
stunned by His beauty they stand;
loosing themselves,they forget taking food!

Dressed in a garment that’s soft as a petal;
and a full waist cloth tied around the waist
with a sword tucked tight like a lizard grip;
wearing fragrant mullai and vengai flowers;
amid cowherd boys with peacock feather hats;
In the twilight evening hours,Son of Nandagopa comes;
Girls! don’t go stand before Him
lest you’ll loose your bangles, turning slim!

Purport

Swords, bows, flower sticks, shirts in hand;
Cowherd boys run after Him.
One hand around a lad’s shoulder
and another holding a conch-
that’s used to call back cows;
Krishna comes back fatigued,
His golden body radiating splendor.
My girl takes a look and then stares at Him!
Alas! The country folks spin stories
connecting Krishna and her in a love relationship!

Purport

Lifting Govardana Hill like an umbrella
He protected the cows from distress !
After calves have grazed the fields, He comes;
in the street, with His friends, playing flute.
O good girl! Come see Him;
I haven’t seen anyone like Him so far !
Looking at Him my bangles and sari loosen;
Neither my breasts stay in my control !

Purport

Even as cowherd boys protect Krishna;
holding peacock feather hats over His head;
leading them, with peacock feathers adorning His hair,
I behold He comes singing and dancing !
No more shall I accept another as my bride;
"My Lord who resides in ThirumAlirunchOlai;
Is the one who is apt for me", thus reconciled,
marry me to Him and save mental confusion.

O Companion! With vermilion dot on the forehead;
Lovely curled hair combed well; drum sounds surround;
Beneath cool peacock feather hats;
together with cowherd boys,
swaying bent sticks; unparalleled in beauty!
when the all-knowing choose to come this way;
accuse Him ‘O He is the one who snatched away our ball’
then get enchanted by His coral lips and naughty smile!

While flock of cows goes in front,
Behind goes He, blue hued and shining!
Below the span of peacock feather hat;
fragrant black long hairs adorn the feathers,
His eyes sparkling like red lotus!
Blowing flute, singing and dancing with joy!
Comes Krishna among cowherd boys,
My girl loses herself seeing His beauty.

Alas! she didn’t listen and;
lost grip of her bangles and dress!

Lovely hair flowing down His back,
