He, the light of Ikshvaku clan,destroyed them leaving none;

sister's^ nose; He resides majestically in the Hill;
where the music of reciting sacred pallAndu hangs in the air;
It's none other than the great thirumAlirunchOlai beyond compare.

**rAvaNa who wields sword/^sUrpaNakA is the younger sister of rAvaNa.

Purport

Demons tormented all people in the Hill where He chose to dwell;
He sent them by the southern path, the way to hell;
The Hill where His devotees worship Him always for His grace;
their lives made good is Thirumaliruncholai, a proud place.

Purport

Cowherds gathered to offer Indra the worship as usual;
But the Lord made sure Govardana got it, making it casual;
The Hill, where honey from the flowers in heaven flows;
like a river, is the lovely thirumAlirunchOlai that He chose.

Killing one** of evil kamsa & resting in the Hill He's fond;
is the cool thirumAlirunchOlai where a dark elephant swears
by the blue Lord to make a female elephant stop fleeing unawares.

Killing brave wrestlers* who were sent to fight;
smearing sandal paste** over His arms: He showed His might;
In the Hill, Celestials and Yogis take recourse to Him;
It's thirumAlirunchOlai where they always sing His hymn.

Krishna/** Kooni offered Krishna sandal paste.

As kings perplexed, He stood in front on a chariot for pAndavAs sake;
He brought out water from earth* for horses' intake
The Hill where the skilled shooter and killer warrior by name -
"southern king mAran" praised Him, is thirumAlirunjchOlai of fame

*He poked earth with an arrow to
bring out water for quenching horses tied to Arjuna's chariot.

He razes down evil kings' places and sends them to forest;
Residing on the golden Hill, the auspicious One graces without rest;
where six limbed bees sing His thousand names at dawn
is the thirumAlirunjchOlai where devotees always call on.

their blood to the Lord as a price for their future protection;
The Hill emperumAn resides, where a bed of red hued insects lie;
resembling coral lips of the Lord, is thirumAlirunjchOlai.

spreading light on the Hill, spotless He resides;
where cow elephants delight spending night with their male;
It's thirumAlirunjchOlai, which protects without fail.

Purport

The mAlirunjchOlai Hill filled with kurunji flower trees,
where the Lord, resembling black hued sea, stays at ease;
these words about Him dedicated by periAzhwAr of villipuththoor
those who recite with devotion shall see Krishna's feet for sure.

சாராம்சம்

திருமாலிருஞ்சோலையின் அழகையும், அதன்
பெருமையையும், அம்மலை எம்பெருமானுக்கு
எவ்வளவு உகந்தது என்பதையும் மிகச் சிறப்பாக
கீழ்கண்ட பாசுரங்களின் மூலம் பெரியாழ்வார்
நமக்கு அருளிச் செய்கிறார்.

அலம்பா வெருட்டாக் கொன்று திரியும் அரக்கரை
குலம்பாழ் படுத்துக் குல விளக்காய் நின்ற
கோன்மலை சிலம்பார்க்க வந்து தெய்வ
மகளிர்களாடும் சீர் சிலம்பாறு பாயும் தென்
திருமாலிருஞ் சோலையே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

பிராணிகளை பயமுறுத்தியும், ஓட விட்டு
கொலை செய்தும் திரிந்து வந்த அரக்கர்களை
கூண்டோடழித்து, இக்ஷ்வாகு வம்ச குல விளக்காய்
திகழ்ந்த எம்பெருமான் எழுந்தருளியிருக்கும்
மலை, அப்சரஸ் ஸ்த்ரீகள் தேவலோகத்திலிருந்து
பூலோகத்திற்க்கு இரங்கி வந்து ஓடும் நூபுர
கங்கையில் தங்களது பாதச் சிலம்புகள் ஒலிக்கும்
படி குளிக்கும் பெருமையுடைய திருமாலிருஞ்சோலையே!

வல்லாளன் தோளும் வாளரக்கன் முடியும் தங்கை
பொல்லாத மூக்கும் போக்கு வித்தான் பொருந்தும்
மலை எல்லா விடத்திலும் எங்கும் பரந்து பல்லாண்டொலி
செல்லா நிற்கும் சீர்த்தென் திருமாலிருஞ் சோலையே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

வலிய ஆண்பலம் கொண்ட பாணாசுரனின்
தோள்களையும்,வாள் ஏந்திய ராவணனின்
தலைகளையும், ராவணனின் தங்கை சூர்ப்பணகையின்
பயங்கரமான மூக்கையும் அறுந்து போகும்படி செய்த
எம்பெருமான் எழுந்தருளியிருக்கும் மலை, எங்கும்
மங்களகரமான பல்லாண்டு பாடும் ஒலி பரவி
நிற்க்கும் பெருமையுடைய திருமாலிருஞ்சோலையே!

தக்கார் மிக்கார்களைச் சஞ்சலம் செய்யும் சலவரை
தெக்கா நெறியே போக்குவிக்கும் செல்வன் பொன்மலை
எக்காலமும் சென்று சேவித் திருக்கும் அடியரை
அக்கா னெறியை மாற்றும் தண்மாலிருஞ் சோலையே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

தனக்கு உகந்தவர்களையும், சாதுக்களையும்,
துன்புருத்தும் கொடிய அரக்கர்களை நரகமிருக்கும்
தென் திசை நோக்கி போகச்செய்த செல்வந்தன்
எம்பெருமான் உறையும் அழகிய மலை, எக்காலமும்
சென்று அவனை சேவிக்கும் அடியவர்களை அப்படிபட்ட
கொடிய வழியில் செல்வதை மாற்றி அவர்களுடைய
தாபத்தை போக்கும் பெருமையுடைய மாலிருஞ்சோலையே!

ஆனாயர் கூடி அமைத்த விழவை அமரர்தம்
கோனார்க் கொழியக் கோவர்த்தனத்துச் செய்தான் மலை
வானாட்டில் நின்று மாமலர்க் கற்பகத் தொத்திழி
தேனாறு பாயும் தென் திருமாலிருஞ் சோலையே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

ஆயர் குடி மக்கள் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து நடத்திய பூஜையை
இந்திர தேவனுக்கு சென்றடையாமல் செய்து, கோவர்த்தன
மலைக்கே சேரும்படி செய்த எம்பெருமான் உறையும் மலை,
ஸ்வர்கத்தில் இருக்கும் கல்பவ்ருக்ஷத்தின் சிறந்த
பூக்களிலிருந்து பெருகி வரும் தேன், கீழே ஆறாய்
ஓடுகின்ற அழகையுடைய திருமாலிருஞ்சோலையே!

ஒருவாரணம் பணிகொண்டவன் பொய்கையில் கஞ்சன்தன்
ஒருவாரணம் உயிருண்டவன் சென்றுறையும் மலை
கருவாரணம் தன்பிடி துறந்தோட கடல்வண்ணன்
திருவாணை கூறத் திரியும் தண்மாலிருஞ் சோலையே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

ஒரு யானையிடம்* கைங்கர்யத்தைப் பெற்றுக்
கொண்டவனும், கம்சனின் ஒரு யானையின்**
உயிரைப் போக்கினவனும் நின்று சேவை சாதிக்கும்
மலை எதுவென்றால், ஒரு கரு ஆண் யானை
தன்னுடைய பெண் யானை தன்னை விட்டு ஓடப்
பார்க்கும் போது, அதை நோக்கி " கடல் நிறமுடைய
பெருமானின் மீதாணை, நீ போகக் கூடாது" என்று
கூறியவுடன், அந்த பெண் யானை அந்த ஆணைக்குக்
கட்டுப்பட்டு பிரிந்து செல்லாமல் நின்று விட்ட,
குளிர்ச்சியான திருமாலிருஞ்சோலைதான்.

ஏவிற்றுச் செய்வான் என்றெதிர்ந்து வந்த மல்லரை
சாவத் தகர்த்த சாந்தணி தோள் சதுரன் மலை
ஆவத் தனமென்று அமரர்களும் நன் முனிவரும்
சேவித் திருக்கும் தென் திருமாலிருஞ் சோலையே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

தைர்யத்துடன் எதிர்த்து வந்த கம்ஸன் ஏவி விட்ட
மல்யுத்த வீரர்களை சண்டையிட்டுக் கொன்றவனும்,
கூனி பூசிய சந்தனச் சாந்தை அணிந்த தோள்களை
உடைய ஸ்வதந்த்ரனின் மலை, வானோர்களும்,
முனிவர்களும் தங்களுக்கு ஆபத்து காலத்தில்
பாதுகாப்பாக இருக்கும் எனக் கருதி பெருமானையே
நம்பி சேவித்துக் கொண்டு வாழ்ந்து வரும்
இடமான திருமாலிருஞ்சோலையே!

மன்னர் மறுக மைத்துனன்மார்க்கு ஒரு தேரின்மேல்
முன்னங்கு நின்று மோழை யெழு வித்தவன் மலை
கொன்னவில் கூர்வேற் கோன் நெடுமாறன் தென் கூடற்கோன்
தென்னன் கொண்டாடும் தென் திருமாலிருஞ் சோலையே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

தேரில் அமர்ந்து அஸ்த்ரத்தை ப்ரயோகித்து பூமியிலிருந்து
நீரை வெளியே எழச் செய்தும்*, போர்க்களத்தில்
பாண்டவர்களுக்குத் துணையாக முன் நின்றும், எதிரி
மன்னர்களை நிலை தடுமார வைத்த கண்ணன்
எழுந்தருளியிருக்கும் மலை, கூரான வேலை
உடையவனும், எதிரிகளை அழிப்பதில் வல்லவனும்,
தெற்க்கே புகழுடன் மாறன் என்ற பெயருடன் விளங்கிய
மதுரை மன்னனால் கொண்டாடப் பட்ட
தென் திருமாலிருஞ்சோலையே!

*அர்ஜுனனின் குதிரைகள் பருகுவதற்க்காக
அந்த வரட்டு பூமியிலிருந்தும் நீரை
வெளிக்கொணர்ந்தான் கண்ணன்!

குறுகாத மன்னரைக் கூடுகலக்கி வெங்கானிடைச்
சிறுகால் நெறியே போக்கு விக்கும் செல்வன் பொன்மலை
அறுகால் வரிவண்டுகள் ஆயிரநாமம் சொல்லி
சிறுகாலைப்பாடும் தென் திருமாலிருஞ் சோலையே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

நல் வழியில் செல்ல விரும்பாத கொடிய மன்னர்களின்
இருப்பிடத்தை அழித்து, அவர்களை கடும் காட்டிற்க்குள்
ஓடும்படி விரட்டும் ஸ்ரீயப்பதியான பெருமான் சேவை
சாதிக்கும் பொன் போன்ற மலை எதுவென்றால்,
ஆறுகால்களுடன் அழகிய வண்டுகள் பெருமானின்
ஆயிரம் திருநாமங்களை அதிகாலையில் பாடும்
தென் திருமாலிருஞ்சோலை தான்!

சிந்தப் புடைத்துச் செங்குருதி கொண்டு பூதங்கள்
அந்திப் பலி கொடுத்து ஆவத் தனம்செய் அப்பன்மலை
இந்திர கோபங்கள் எம்பெருமான் கனி வாயொப்பான்
சிந்தும் புறவில் தென் திருமாலிருஞ் சோலையே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

பகவத் பக்தி கொண்ட பூதங்கள், நாத்திகர்களை
அடித்துக் கொன்று, அதனால் உண்டான சிவப்பு
நிற ரத்தத்தை, ஆபத் காலத்திற்க்கு உதவும் என்று,
பகவானுக்கு சமர்ப்பணமாகப் பண்ணி சேவிக்கும்
பெருமான் எழுந்தருளியிருக்கும் மலை, எம்பெருமானுடைய
சிவந்த உதடுகளைப் போல் சிவப்பு நிற பூச்சிகள் எங்கும்
பரந்து கிடக்கும் தென் திருமாலிருஞ்சோலையே!

எட்டுத் திசையும் எண்ணிறந்த பெருந் தேவிமார்
விட்டு விளங்க வீற்றிருந்த விமலன் மலை
பட்டிப் பிடிகள் பகடுறிஞ்சிச் சென்று மாலைவாய்த்
தெட்டித்திளைக்கும் தென் திருமாலிருஞ் சோலையே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

எண்ண முடியாத அளவிற்க்கு புகழுடன் விளங்கும்
தேவிகள் எட்டு திசைகளிலும் சூழ்ந்திருக்க, அவர்களின்
நடுவே தூய்மையான எம்பெருமான எழுந்தருளியிருந்த
மலை, பெண் யானைகள் ஆண் யானைகளுடன் இரவு
முழுவதும் கூடி அதனால் ஏற்ப்பட்ட களிப்புடன்
நிற்க்கும் தென் திருமாலிருஞ்சோலையே!

மருதப் பொழிலணி மாலிருஞ் சோலை மலை தன்னை
கருதி யுறைகின்ற கார்க்கடல் வண்ணனம் மான்தன்னை
விரதம் கொண்டேத்தும் வில்லிபுத்தூர் விட்டு சித்தன்சொல்
கருதி யுரைப்பவர் கண்ணன் கழலிணை காண்பர்களே.

பாசுர அனுபவம்

குறிஞ்சி மலர் பூத்து அலங்கரிக்கும் மரச் சோலைகள்
அடர்ந்த திருமாலிருஞ்சோலை மலையை தேர்ந்தெடுத்து
அதில் குடிகொண்டு சேவை சாதிக்கும் கருங்கடல்
நிறவண்ணனை, விரதம் மேற்க்கொண்டு வழிபடும்
ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர் வாழ் பெரியாழ்வார், போற்றி இயற்றிய
இப்பாடல்களை பக்தியுடன் ஓதவல்லவர்கள் கண்ணனின்
திருவடிகளை தரிசிக்கும் பாக்யம் கிடைக்கப் பெறுவர்கள்.
